Ohhh, but there is a huge difference here. A nun is a nun because she chooses to be, and makes this choice when she is old enough to make that choice (you aren’t a nun from birth).
A muslim woman can CHOOSE to be devout to her religion, but come on now, most of these women are born into the religion and are shunned by their family if they don’t want to be a part of what is forced onto them from birth. And let’s be clear… when people talk about muslim women being oppressed are talking more about their treatment and value in the religion, than “Oh they are wearing a hijab, they are oppressed.”
This picture is silly and has a weak argument, comparing apples to oranges. Just had to say. So many people have liked this picture or reblogged saying “oh duh, it’s totally the same” and stuff…but NO GUYS. IT’S NOT.
It kills me when I see Christians holding hands to protect the Muslims during prayer in riot-stricken Egypt, but conservative groups wont even let Muslims have a mosque in lower Manhattan.
