I wonder, were the people in France talking about your English or French regarding your “Canadian” accent?

Both actually, I heard that comment once while speaking French at a restaurant, and once while speaking English while on tour. I don’t deny that I sound like a real anglophone when trying to speak French!

Je besoin de dormir ou je vais mourir a l’ordinateur, au-dessus de mon chaton.

Je besoin aussi de prendre une douche et laver mes cheveux, mais je pense que je vais le faire demain matin avant d’aller au travail.

I had to say a final goodbye

…to one of my residents today.

She was a sweet little woman, that was pure Francophone. Thankfully, I studied enough French in high school to be able to handle conversation.

She was in bed, hooked up to oxygen. Her eyes stared right up at the ceiling, and she couldn’t speak anymore.

I sat beside her and said in my shaky french

“Bonjour. Je besoin d’aller dans quelque minutes mais je veux juste dire que vous etes une bonne amie pour moi. J’aime beaucoup parler avec toi J’espere que vous pouvez dormir bien cet apres-midi, et que vous pouvez rendre meilleure bientot.”

(You are a good friend to me, and I love to talk to you. I hope you rest well and that you get better soon)

Then I took her hand, and she squeezed it really hard and a few tears fell from her eyes. I gave her a kiss on the forehead and had to go before I lost it too.

It was hard to say that to her because I think she realized she was dying and that she wasn’t going to get better.

I work again tomorrow, but I suspect she’ll be gone by then.

Worst part of my job, saying goodbye to individuals you’ve become attached to, and watching them slowly come to their death. But that’s life working in a long-term care facility. :/

I’m insanity-laughs, but my real name is Shannon.

I am a proud Canadian and je suis bilingue. My favorite color is purple, my favorite animal is a cat.

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and enjoy mocking Twilight, a series of books I wasted my time reading, to see what all the hype was about.

Queen is my favorite band of all time, and I have pictures of Freddie around my apartment. He’s my flamboyantly gay, leather catsuit wearing Jesus.

Speaking of Jesus, I am an atheist. I believe in socialism, and I believe in respect for the environment and all those around, especially elders.

I work with people with Alzheimer’s every day, and I love my job.

I like gaming on the computer, watching Star Trek, and love everything about Maher, Stewart and Colbert.

I am adopted and I believe I am truly blessed to have been chosen by my wonderful parents, who adopted me when they were 50. They are now in their mid 70s.

I have epilepsy, and am affected by grand mal seizures.

I love babies/children and cannot wait to be a mother.

Day 8 — Your favorite internet friend

Hai gurl hai!

I was looking forward to writing this letter. Over the years I’ve added a few random people to my msn that I’d met from msg boards or whatever, but I never really talked to any of them after maybe a month or two. But here we are Clau, approaching the 5 year “anniversary” of when we first talked to each other, I believe it was October some time of 2005. We went through the phases, you got me on MySpace, and when I left it, you made me join again :P and then I talked you into Facebook. Then LJ (which I used for maybe 3 days), and twitter came and went..and now Tumblr too. We both love the same movies, music, books et maintenant on parle Français comme Amelie Poulain!

I always say (usually in my almost daily explanation of my MCR tattoo) that My Chem did a lot for me…but beyond soothe ma soul (with their lyrics of blowing their brains against the ceiling…and so on…hahaha God, I was a little emo child), they also led to our eventual meeting on whatever that fan site was we were both on at that time.

You’re one of the funniest people to have a conversation with, and you’re an absolute doll. Totally gorgeous too!
