Black Lace Candles | Family Chic
I could stand for hours in the trim aisle of Spotlight, just looking at all the pretty lace, ribbons, pom poms… Sigh. I just wish I could have that in my house! Haha! I can never think of anything to do with it though. But this is so easy and effective, don’t you think? I don’t know if I would do it with black lace, but any kind of lace would be beautiful. Right, a trip back to the trim aisle is needed, this time with a purpose!
Black lace is fantastic.

Easy easy craft…however, like all crafts I woo over, it’ll get catalogued under “I Like it but will Never probably do it”

When I see things like this, it makes me want to learn how to cross-stitch. Richard’s aunt said she would teach me :)

I made these at work with my residents today. It was so funny, because of their Alzheimer’s/dementia, they didn’t all really see what the heck it was supposed to be until I drew on the face as the finishing touch…then they would smile and say “Oh this is so darling” etc. They were a big hit and very easy!
You will need:
Paint stir stick painted white
3” x 3” piece of felt for hat
8” x 1” strip of material or felt
3 buttons or pony beads (we used pom poms because buttons/beads look like candy sometimes to the residents, don’t want anyone eating them!)
Orange felt triangle for carrot nose
6” piece of yarn
scissors
black marker or black paint
hot glue gun
What You Do:
Wrap 3”x3” fabric around the top of the stick and hot glue together in the back. If you have more time, you can use white craft glue or felt glue and attach a wooden clothespin to the stick and hat to hold it in place while it dries. Tie yarn around the top of the hat and trim ends. Fringe the top of the hat with scissors if you like.
Wrap 8”x1” strip of material around the neck, tie in a knot. Fringe the ends with scissors.
Use white craft glue to attach 3 buttons or beads below the scarf and glue the orange felt triangle on for the nose. Use black marker, or a toothpick dipped in black paint to create the mouth and eyes.
Let everything dry. All done!

Shaun of the Dead pillow, anyone?
I saw that cool post of the bloody pillow and it reminded me of this seller on etsy, who also sells a whole “bloody” collection - bed sheets, lampshades, curtains, bath mat, pillow, candles, etc. Ha. I’ve purchased a couple of candles from them before ;)
